The city of Winnipeg needs to stop trying to reinvent the wheel.

We need to look at what other Canadian cities have done and are doing and what succeeds and what doesn't.

In much larger Canadian cities school zones are school zones and that's it.

The speed limit on, speed limit off is confusing for drivers and does nothing to protect our children.

My proposal is simple, follow what larger cities are doing in Canada and have school zones year round.

Put proper signage at all school zones, have blinking lights in school zones and paint the road with highly reflective long lasting road paint.

The safety of our children is one of the most important policies that we can have.
